The commutator is a core component of DC motors and brushed motors; it is responsible for reversing the direction of the current during rotation, enabling the motor to run continuously. The outer circumference of the commutator must be highly uniform; otherwise, the brushes will bounce, causing the current to be interrupted and resulting in arc erosion.
